The piece was first performed by Shadanga Duo in 2014.

The term ‘Slow Race’ is found in cycling and motorcycling. The goal is to cross the finish line last without falling down on the way. In the piece, the two musicians repeat each bar as many times as they wish. The first one to get to the last bar has to repeat it until the other musician reaches it as well.
