“Patchwork Musik” (“Patchwork Music”) is a series of flexible pieces for use in Music Schools. The first idea for the pieces came from flutist and music school teacher Anne Fontenay, who wanted a piece, which could be played by any combination of students, and which also invites the students to be a part of the composition proces.
Each page in “Patchwork Musik” is divided into 4 parts, which can be flipped through individually. For each part of the page, the student can choose between a number of melodies, noise parts or silence, all of which fit together. There are infinite combination possibilities, and any combination of instruments can play together.
“Sandflugt” is for the advanced students in a music school – the level just before or at MGK (music academy preparatory school). In this piece there are added layers of composition and improvisation and even bringing the concert space into play.
“Patchwork Musik – Sandflugt” will be premiered students in Sealand in the spring of 2022.
